The Double-Ended Lipstick

At last, the long-awaited review of Bite Beauty‘s Mix ‘N Mingle lipstick! I’ve had this lipstick for a while now — a friend picked one up for me in a Boxing Day sale — but I didn’t have an opportunity to photograph it for a blog post. Then, as luck would have it, one end got horribly maimed in a left-in-a-warm-pocket-all-day kind of way. Of course, that led to the excuse of buying a new one…

This handy duo-toned stick is thin and sleek: the perfect size to throw into any bag, even a clutch. On one end is a slightly pinker mauve called Musk; on the other, a peachy beige named Retsina. I find both colours to be perfect nude shades for me, with Musk being closer to my actual lip colour than Retsina.

The gorgeously creamy lipstick glides onto lips smoothly; however after a few minutes it becomes a bit sticky. I find it to be a bit dehydrating, especially during the winter months, and would definitely suggest applying lip balm in advance. The Mix ‘N Mingle lipstick has great pigmentation: one swipe is enough to add a subtle hint of colour, though it can easily be built up to create a wonderful opaque lip. One of my favourite characteristics is the natural fade. That’s right, no ring of lipstick leftover after a long day!

Overall, this lipstick duo is perfect as a throw-in-your-purse, everyday wear. I may just have to go buy one in every (pair of) shades…
